National Squads

In order to continue Wales recent improvement in results and performances within Touch, the WTA are currently looking at a few changes for our elite squads and players ahead of next years Euro 2012 championships in Italy.  These include the following:

  • Players Code - Head coaches working with the newly appointed Elite Performence Managers Gwynne Griffiths and Bianca Zietsman, are helping to develop a Players Code, something that will reseamble a form of agreement between the WTA and the elite players selected to represent our country.

The Players Code will set out the standards and expectations of National Squad representatives.  If you would like to have your say about what this should include or would like further information then just let us know.

  • Performance Development Review (PDR) - We are also going to establish a performance appraisal process for our coaching teams, a process that will include setting objectives and goals and measuring each coaches performance against the targets therby driving innovation and perfromance development.
  • Events Calendar - working with the top Touch clubs in Wales, the league organisers and the elite players, the WTA are looking to establish an events calendar that will allow progressive development and deliver a coordinated and enjoyable programme for the forthcoming season.  The 2012 calendar will be tailored towards preperation planning for the 2012 European Championships that will this year take place in September in Treviso, Italy.

Should you want any further detail of any of the above initiatives or wish to have your say then please, email Gwion Kennard, Technical Director at gwion.kennard@atkinsglobal.com.
